Prolong the pillars, Intervention, March 2024

In September 2021, in ethall gallery we presented the exhibition “Four Walls“, whose proposal consisted in the eight pillars of the exhibition space with the construction of four plasterboard walls. As a result, the exhibition space was divided into five rooms, some of which were accessible and others not, thus modifying the accesses, the route and the perception of the place itself. The gallery also contained four drawings on pladur, referring to each of the walls, with their four pencils, as a support for the possible contracts to be established with the interested parties, to build a new wall in their space.

On 29 November 2022, with the intention to build one of this walls in MACBA museum, the director Elvira Dyangani and me wrote on the back of one of this drawing, with the same pencil, the following agreement:
“We are going to build a wall in the museum that extends two of the pillars of the building, from its base, on the ground floor, to the ceiling, on the second floor. From 13 December 2022 until the end of the exhibition, the wall will gradually grow until it closes off the main entrance to the MACBA galleries”.

Since then, construction started and three phases of growth were defined until the end of 2024 or 2025.
